A Jubilee Party Fit for a Queen
On Friday 3rd June, in the midst of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, we held a celebration of our own in the home's garden. Our courtyards and gardens have recently undergone a rejuvenation as part of our 'Garden Project', and residents and family members were delighted with the transformation, saying how beautiful our outdoor spaces are and that they were thrilled that they were complete in time for our Platinum Jubilee Celebration Party.
Preparations for the party took place within the home, as residents had great fun making paper chains and streamers. Staff also ensured the home was covered with decorations and bunting as well as arranged for the home to have a cake to truly mark the momentous occasion. Our home dog Brodie also got involved and looked very handsome in his Union Jack bow tie!
For the day itself, we asked family members (who all received an invitation to the special celebration along with our residents) if anyone had a tea set that they would donate to the home so that we could celebrate in style. As always with our Rubislaw Park family, we were inundated with kindness, and as a result, we were able to provide all of our residents and their families with a cup of tea or coffee in a china cup - which always tastes better!
The celebration took place between 14:00pm - 16:00pm and during this time, as a special surprise for residents, we had entertainment by Jack McPherson, some Scottish dancers from Lawrence School of Dance, and also a young piper to pipe as family members came in to celebrate with us.
It was a gloriously sunny afternoon and everyone involved enjoyed the entertainment, a lovely selection of hot and cold snacks prepared by our chefs, and cocktails and mocktails alongside tea and coffee.
We are delighted that we have been able to hold this event for not only our residents but their families and members of the local community too. It was the first celebration we have been able to have in two years where we could once again be joined by our loved ones and what a celebration it was!
Thank you again to all those who helped us celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and we look forward to opening our doors and welcoming more residents and guests in the near future.
