At Rubislaw Park, our residents have been enjoying the benefits of creativity and self-expression through our weekly art classes. These sessions have allowed them to explore various styles, including still life and abstract painting. The dedication and talent of our residents are evident in the outstanding pieces they have created, which will soon be showcased in our Rubislaw Gallery.

Encouraging New Pastimes

We are committed to supporting our residents in exploring and enjoying new pastimes. We ensure that everyone can participate, regardless of any physical or cognitive constraints they may have. These art classes provide an inclusive environment where all residents can express their creativity.

Art as a Tool for Expression and Communication

For some residents who find it challenging to express themselves vocally, painting has become a vital avenue for communication. Through their artwork, they can convey emotions and thoughts that might otherwise remain unexpressed. Our clinical team has also found these art pieces to be valuable tools for wider care planning and cognitive support, enhancing the overall well-being of our residents.

At our care home, we keep residents active with hobbies they enjoy. Art is a popular activity at our home. As well as being good for mental health, painting and drawing are great for hand-eye coordination and motor skills.

Our Art Appreciation Evening

To celebrate the artistic achievements of our residents, we are hosting an evening of art appreciation. We invite family and friends to join our art evening, where we will be showing some pieces from our residents. 

We are delighted to announce that local art expert David will be joining us for this event. David will give a master class on fine arts, sharing his expertise and insights with our residents and guests. Additionally, he will showcase some pieces from his private collection, offering a unique glimpse into the world of fine art.

This special event will take place on Thursday, the 5th of September, and is open for you to attend.
