Celebrating Our 3rd Consecutive Year as Scottish Care Awards Finalist
At Rubislaw Park Care Home in Aberdeen, we are incredibly proud to announce that we’ve made the finalist list for the prestigious Scottish Care Awards for the third year running. This year, our care home has been recognised for its outstanding contributions to staff training and the support we provide to our residents and their families.
Our focus is simple: to ensure our residents receive the highest standard of care while creating a positive, supportive environment for our staff. This year, we are particularly honoured that our work in education and training within the care sector has been recognised by Scottish Care, not only for our internal team development but also for the innovative ways in which we support relatives.
Leading the Way in Education and Training
We are especially proud of being the first Scottish care home to support a government initiative aimed at staff training and retention within the sector. This initiative is about more than just improving skills—it’s about fostering a culture of excellence in care, where highly trained staff feel valued and supported in their roles. At Rubislaw Park, staff retention is unwavering, and that’s because our team is committed, skilled, and above all, passionate about the care they provide.
This year, our nomination focuses on the work we’ve done to support education within the care sector. We’ve taken significant steps to provide a high standard of clinical training to our team, ensuring that our nurses, carers, and ancillary staff have the tools they need to deliver exceptional care. Training goes beyond the basics at Rubislaw Park. We are always striving to give our staff opportunities to grow and develop professionally, which in turn benefits our residents.
But what makes us stand out this year is our dedication to involving relatives in the care process. We believe that collaboration between families and the care team is key to enhancing the wider community and improving the quality of care our residents receive. To do that, we’ve been providing basic first aid training to relatives, allowing them to gain knowledge and feel more empowered in supporting their loved ones, especially during times of acute illness.
Putting Residents at the Heart of Everything We Do
The residents at Rubislaw Park are at the very core of everything we do. Our training and development initiatives are always designed with their wellbeing in mind. We recognise that care homes are more than just healthcare providers—they are homes, and it is our responsibility to ensure that residents feel comfortable, safe, and cared for in every situation, particularly during times of illness. It’s this personal, compassionate approach that sets Rubislaw Park apart and has helped us to reach the finalist stage once again.
At Rubislaw Park in Aberdeen, we believe that continuous improvement is key to providing the best possible care. That’s why we’re always looking for new ways to enhance our services, not only through staff training but also through innovative practices that benefit the wider community. Our staff’s commitment to excellence has ensured that we’ve been able to retain a highly skilled team who are dedicated to making our home a place where residents can live with dignity, respect, and the highest standards of care.
We are truly honoured to have been recognised by Scottish Care for the third consecutive year, and this nomination highlights the hard work, dedication, and passion that our entire team brings to their roles. We’re excited to continue building on this success, always with the aim of improving the lives of our residents and supporting their families.
