Rubislaw Park Welcomes a Special Four-Legged Friend
The team at Rubislaw Park are excited to welcome their special new four-legged friend who is already bringing so much delight to the residents and staff alike.
Young Brodie, a gorgeous Labrador puppy has just arrived at our luxury care home and has already been treated like royalty. We were really keen to introduce a pet dog to our residents, and everyone has been involved from the outset in terms of deciding the breed and the name and it’s been the talk of the home for the last couple of months.
Pet Therapy
Gayle Bain, our Home Manager commented:
We pride ourselves on creating a home from home environment at Rubislaw Park and regular seek input from our residents as to what they would like and top of the list was a dog. I’ve always believed in the benefits of pet therapy within a care home so I really didn’t take much convincing and neither did the rest of the team. We’ve so enjoyed watching Brodie’s journey to date and now that he’s at the home he’s already bringing so much delight to everyone and is proving to be our most popular resident!
Offering Affection and Bringing Back Happy Memories
Gayle, further commented:
The positive effects a pet can bring into the home are extensive, from providing companionship to affection, and can often bring back happy memories of previous pets or times with family and friends. This is a positive way of unlocking memories for residents who are suffering from Dementia and Alzheimers. One thing for sure is that Brodie is never going to be short of love and affection from everyone at the home.
