Team Leader Wilma Duthie Wins #GladtoCare Award

Wilma Duthie, Glad to Care Winner at Rubislaw Park Care Home

Rubislaw Park Care Home, residents, friends and family of the home all congratulate our wonderful Team Leader Wilma Duthie after winning the #GladtoCare awareness week.

#GladtoCare Awareness Week is run by Pollard’s Promises; the charitable arm of Quality Care Group, established as a way for founder Darren Pollard and his team to express their appreciation for the wonderful people in the Care Sector. Pollard's Promises provides a unique opportunity to fulfil a wish of a resident, service user or staff member; giving managers, staff and residents a chance to say thank you to an employee who has gone the extra mile.

Going the extra mile

Deputy Manager Anna Hoffmann proudly described our passionate Team Leader:

"Wilma is a very calm and caring person with all qualities required to be a Team Leader. Throughout her work, Wilma promotes her PRIDE ethos of work, which means: Pride, Responsibility, Independence, Determination, Excellence".

Wilma has gone above and beyond in her jobs role, and is worthy of the recognition and reward of the #GladtoCare awareness week. Wilma has been awarded a £50 Amazon Gift Voucher; the perfect treat to help show Wilma just how much she is appreciated.

Wilma’s story

Wilma decided to take up a job in a care home after her mum and auntie were both diagnosed with dementia. She applied for a job in Kingsmead, out at Kingswells, who had residents with dementia and learning disabilities. She started out as a carer on night shift and worked her way to team leader after passing her SVQ2 and SVQ3 and completing a 12-week medication course. She then applied for a job at Rubislaw Park Care Home as a Team leader on Day Shift where she has been ever since. At Rubislaw she has completed two units of her SVQ4 and completed evolve training, mandatory training and medication training. She is very happy in her job at Rubislaw!

The perfect leader

Anna goes on to congratulate Wilma for her dedication to her role,

"As a team leader, Wilma inspires her staff constantly and implements vision as follows: 'Leadership is not about being the best, leadership is about making everyone else better'. She is a great asset to our team and her dedication is greatly appreciated."

Congratulations Wilma; thank you from everyone here at Rubislaw Park Care home.
